| 5-MAR-2007: Whoops......... |
Its always wonderful to wake up on a Monday morning with the birds singing, the sun shining and a feeling that everything is going to be great. Its not so good when that illusion is shattered by 8.15am when you find out that something in our lovely systems has gone wrong! Suprisingly enough, some of the bands in The Ultimate Showcase competition were finding that some of their fans were cheating and voting using fake email addresses, so, over night, we sent out an email with a validation link in it to put a sting in the tail and completely change the leaderboard. This validation had to be sent out to well over 10,000 people and unfortuantely, a little gremlin that goes by the name of Obadiah (a common gremlin name around these parts) got into the system and instead of the emails sending out the one confirmation link, it copied every email it sent, into the next one. This means that some of you may get 2 or 3 meg emails coming through........ SORRY!!!!! This was caught before the last emails were sent and the verification link in that email is now disabled, you will get a second email with the correct link in it. Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience caused! |

| 21-FEB-2007: Bad Night at the Office...... |
Poor old Phil, our developer was tearing his hair out last night after a few things went wrong with the site (I would hate to have his job, I have enough problems with my computer, let alone the programming of things!) but we are pleased to say these have now been fixed. For a while, people that were not logged into the site could not see anyones profiles, no sooner than that was fixed, the whole site went down. Thanksfully, Phil, who obviously doesn't sleep got to work on it as soon as we were notified and got it fixed so that this morning it all looks lovely again. Although we have just been informed that the music player has dissapeared, that will be sorted soon, so don't fret!! For those of you wondering how to get to The Ultimate Showcase pages, CLICK HERE ![]() This doesn't actually look anything like Phil but for now it illustrates the problem! |

| 20-FEB-2007: Why Do We Ask For People's Email Addresses? |
We have received a few emails lately asking why we need to get people's email addresses, and if we are using them. The answer is simple and I would like to start by stating we are NOT harvesting email addresses. The reason we need to ask for them is as follows:- The way Musicfinity works is that we pass on the details of bands to various industry counterparties who like to listen to your music, check out your fanbase and basically get an idea of the potential of your band. To be able to provide this information, we need to verify that someone that signs up to your fan list is a real person. By getting them to enter their email and verify it shows us that it is a real person that wants to help bands get gigs etc. We have made a decision not to send emails to these people unless there is something that they really need to know. We also do not give their email details to anyone else; they are in the system simply to make sure we are dealing with real people. I will put an FAQ up on the site soon to answer questions such as this one in more detail. We will also put a button up on your pages so that people can register they are a fan of your band without adding to your mailing list. |
